WoodStraw® engineered wood strand mulch is composed of long-strands with patented specifications designed in wind-tunnel testing for maximum wind resistance and stability on steep slopes. The rough texture of the wood strands help to hold the "matrix like" array of material on steep slopes and prevent displacement in high winds. There are no seeds so there is no introduction of non-native or invasive plants.

There is no agricultural chemical residue which is found in agricultural straw (used in rolled erosion blankets) and includes herbicides, pesticides and nutrients which are detrimental to a native plant ecosystem and insect survival which is critical to wildlife habitat.
